Etiquette for First Timers

Having been asked on a number of occasions about the drill for first timers, I have to say there are no particular rules!

A few handy points though....

  • Remember everyone else who is there are there for the same reasons you are....
  • Have a shower before using the facilities
  • Most have a towels only policy, i.e. don't wear underwear/trunks etc. Some do have special events when this is what you should wear though!
  • Towels are usually supplied: it is the norm to wear one around your waist when in public areas; what you do with it in steam boxes, saunas etc depends on what everyone else does!
  • Towels are a valuable commodity; most venues charge for new towels and you can find your nice warm dry fluffy wrap being swapped for a foetid, skanky, smelly monstrosity when your back is turned.
  • Keys for lockers are usually on rubber bands so you can slip them on your wrists; try your ankle instead 'cos your hands get busy and the key jangles!
  • Payment by credit card (where accepted) is usually OK as most use a fairly neutral merchant name.
  • Ask for a brief tour of the place before you pile in....it is quite easy to miss some facilities.
  • Use the toilets not the water features if you need to piss.
  • Do not chuck bubble bath in the jacuzzi or fiddle with the controls. Remember to heed warnings about how long to stay in them.
  • Take your own condoms/lube etc. Most venues supply them but sometimes these run out.
  • Some venues do not allow the use of poppers; there's usually a sign.
  • It is quite acceptable to politely turn any approaches down
  • There are body fascists in saunas. Try to go to ones where you will feel most comfortable.
  • There is a lot of anticipation with not a lot of action at some venues. Don't be disappointed with this, just try to start something yourself. Playing footsie is as good a way as any.
  • Talking is unusual in the facilities
  • You will quickly realise when a scene is private and when it is a free-for-all. Don't be afraid to join it/watch.
  • Dispose of litter sensibly, don't just leave "things" lying around.
  • Sadly body lice/crabs can be quite common and picking them up in saunas is easy. Ditto foot bugs..
  • If you go elsewhere with someone, don't be stupid, take sensible precautions - if possible let someone know where you're going.
  • Take a pen and paper; I always come away with a few new phone numbers!

Do you have any great tips? Let me know!!!!
